Aiden Parker was a twelve-year-old boy who loved Halloween more than any other holiday. He enjoyed the mystery, costumes, decorations, and the feeling that anything could happen. Even though some people thought he was getting too old for Halloween, Aiden believed imagination was important at every age.
Every October, Aiden decorated his family’s blue house on Willow Street. His parents, Daniel and Rachel, always helped him. His eight-year-old sister, Mia, also loved Halloween, but she believed almost everything could be haunted.
This year, Aiden wanted to turn their house into an abandoned hotel. He imagined old luggage, strange room numbers, cobwebs, flickering lights, and ghosts. While visiting the Willowbrook Flea Market with Mia and his father, Aiden found an old brass doorbell. It had the letters “B.H.” on it.
The seller explained that the bell once belonged to the Bellweather Hotel, an old hotel that had disappeared from local memory. Before selling it, she warned Aiden that some doors keep things out, while others let things in.
Aiden did not take the warning seriously. He bought the bell because it was perfect for his Halloween decoration.
But the bell was not ordinary.
When Aiden rang it after dark, it began calling back ghosts who had once stayed at the Bellweather Hotel. Children, soldiers, musicians, doctors, and many other spirits started appearing. Some were friendly, while others were frightened or confused.
Aiden and Mia soon learned that the ghosts could not leave until they remembered their names, their stories, and something important from their past.
As Halloween night approached, the danger grew. Many children would soon visit the house, and anyone could ring the mysterious bell.
What began as a simple Halloween decoration became an unforgettable adventure about courage, family, forgiveness, history, and the importance of remembering people and their stories.
