About this ebook

You have a VTNE date. Hold it. Between now and then: 503 questions, every option explained. Two full-length practice exams at the real 170-item length, a 10-day plan, one day for each scored domain. No login, no expiry.

We built this the way a veterinary technology instructor runs a licensure review, not the way a shelf gets filled. The AAVSB content outline approved in March 2023 sets ten scored domains. Each one gets a day. Animal Care and Nursing is heaviest at 20%, so it takes the longest day. Communication and Veterinary Professional Support Services is 5%, and older prep material still uses the retired nine-domain outline without it. A sitting is 170 items in three hours: 150 scored, 20 pilot items you cannot tell apart. Both practice exams run at 170 items and at the shares the exam scores. Check us against the AAVSB's published outline. We would rather you did.

What's inside

Ten teaching days, one per scored domain, in the outline's own order, from Pharmacy to Communication.

503 original questions, every option explained. Four options, one correct, and a stated reason the other three lose.

Practice exams at the full 170 items, built to the live domain shares: Animal Care and Nursing 34, Pharmacy 22, Surgical Nursing 22, Anesthesia 22.

Medication math worked step by step. Concentrations, dilutions, CRI rates, fluid plans and drip sets, written out in full.

A 30-question diagnostic near the end, weighted across all ten domains, so your last week opens with a calibration, not a guess.

Ten printable cards. Dosage math in three steps, surgical asepsis, Modified Triadan quadrants, lab checks, adult vital signs. Then radiation safety, anesthetic depth, the primary survey, multimodal analgesia and the domain map. Maybe your last vet tech guide was a glossary with questions at the back. Give it three evenings. If Day 1 teaches you nothing you did not already know, put it down. An hour is all it cost.

Three people get real use from this book. A graduate of an AVMA-accredited program sitting the VTNE cold. A technician qualifying through the experience route. A retaker who wants weighting instead of a topic pile. If dentistry and imaging are already your day job, start at Day 5.

Day 5 is the long one. That domain runs from restraint and nutrition to fluids and wound care. Clear an evening for it. You'll see it more than any other. Downloaded once, yours to keep.

About the author

Passmark builds one kind of book: the one that makes your study hours count. We start from a simple conviction — a certification exam is a skills test, not a memory test — so we never hand you a wall of facts to reread. Our method comes from the science of how memory actually holds: you learn by retrieving, not rereading; you revisit on a widening schedule so it sticks; every answer is explained, right and wrong, so you keep the reasoning; and a diagnostic points your hours where they will move your score. We read each exam's current blueprint ourselves, write every question from scratch, and check every number in the book — question counts, domain weights, practice tests — against the finished pages, not the marketing. When an exam changes, our books change with it.
