About this ebook

Do you often hear people say, “You’re so thin — you can’t have high blood pressure,” or “Do I even have blood pressure?” Or has a friend recommended their blood pressure medication to you?

This book explains hypertension in the simplest, most down-to-earth “layman’s” way. It answers all the questions ordinary people really want to know: What exactly is blood pressure? Why does it rise? What does 130/80 really mean? Do I need medication right away? How can I measure and manage it at home? And how do the different medicines actually work?

You’ll learn the four proven, drug-free strategies — DASH diet, low salt, exercise, and weight loss — plus the latest 2025 medical guidelines on home monitoring, overall cardiovascular risk assessment, single-pill combinations, and more. Many readers find they can lower their blood pressure by 20–30 mmHg without medication simply by making practical lifestyle changes.

Written in plain, friendly language without medical jargon, this book is for anyone with hypertension, their family and friends, or those who want to prevent it.

This book is completely free to share. Pass it on to anyone who needs it.

About the author

Wei Lin is a contemplative man and lifelong seeker. Now in his seventies, he has long since passed the age of recklessness. Formerly employed in the service industry, he understands the mundane realities of life yet recognizes the pure light within the heart.

His hospital experience shaped his understanding of suffering, vigilance, and the quiet heroism of nurses.

In the 1980s, he briefly took monastic vows, observing the Eight Precepts and studying under Masters Baodeng, Jinshan, and Zhifan. His character remains unconventional — a free-spirited wanderer who dwells with his wife and daughter, walks with dogs, and finds companionship in half the Analects, guidance in Buddhist verses, and a mirror for the heart in chapters of military strategy.
