Wei Lin — over seventy years old, has crossed many boundaries, walked through the smoke and fire of the human world, and witnessed both the fragility and resilience of life.
For decades in the medical profession, walking alongside patients taught him composure, moderation, and humility in the face of suffering. The hospital shaped his vision and his understanding of life: pain needs to be seen, vulnerability deserves respect, and both knowledge and compassion can become a form of healing.
He once spent a short period as a monk and observed the Eight Precepts. His life is stable and his family is harmonious.
In his spare time he keeps company with the ancients, befriends poetry and books, and takes the classics as companions.
His temperament does not follow the mainstream, yet he has always held himself with a benevolent heart. He is chivalrous but free-spirited, and harbours deep respect for life.
He lives with his wife and daughter, walks with his dog, takes half of the Analects as a friend, a few Buddhist verses as a lamp, and several chapters of military strategy as a mirror. May the rest of his days remain clear-minded and compassionate, untouched by the aging of time.
