About this ebook

You have a CMAC date. Hold it. Between now and the seat: 645 questions with every option explained, three timed 160-question practice exams, a 12-day plan that opens with a 25-question diagnostic. No login, no expiry.

We built this the way a clinical instructor runs the fortnight before a certification, not the way a shelf gets filled. AMCA delivers 175 items in two and a half hours. Of those, 160 are scored, 15 are unmarked pretest questions. The four domains run 60 percent Clinical Medical Assisting, 26 percent Administrative, 10 percent Professionalism, 4 percent Medical Law and Ethics. Clinical takes seven of your twelve days for that reason. The small domains are short here because the exam makes them short. Each paper runs 160 questions, one for every scored item. Check us against AMCA's published exam page. We would rather you did.

What's inside

The Room-to-Record Check. Four steps on every encounter: Verify, Prepare, Perform, Record. It carries you from the exam room door to an accurate chart entry, and gives you a way into an unfamiliar item.

Seven clinical days. Anatomy and physiology, infection control, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG, medication administration, then assisting with procedures.

645 original questions, every option explained. Each rationale shows why the right answer wins, and you'll see why each distractor tempts you.

Three 160-question practice exams, weighted the way AMCA weights the live paper. A scored review sends you back to the pages behind your misses.

The forty percent nobody drills. Scheduling and records on Day 9, the claim cycle on Day 10, professionalism, law and ethics on Day 11. Each item there is worth the same point as a venipuncture.

Printable reference cards: the Room-to-Record Check, vital-sign ranges by age, injection sites and angles, the order of draw, and one page on scope and HIPAA. Maybe you own a medical assisting textbook you never read to the end. Give it three evenings. If the diagnostic finds no domain you were quietly wrong about, put it down. That is one hour spent.

Three readers, mainly. A student finishing an AMCA approved program. A working assistant adding the CMAC to an existing credential. A retaker who knows the clinical content and lost the paper elsewhere. If injections, vitals and EKG are already your day job, start at Day 9.

Day 10 is the unloved one. Claim cycles are nobody's reason for going into clinical work, and the exam scores them anyway. Downloaded once, yours to keep.

About the author

Passmark builds one kind of book: the one that makes your study hours count. We start from a simple conviction — a certification exam is a skills test, not a memory test — so we never hand you a wall of facts to reread. Our method comes from the science of how memory actually holds: you learn by retrieving, not rereading; you revisit on a widening schedule so it sticks; every answer is explained, right and wrong, so you keep the reasoning; and a diagnostic points your hours where they will move your score. We read each exam's current blueprint ourselves, write every question from scratch, and check every number in the book — question counts, domain weights, practice tests — against the finished pages, not the marketing. When an exam changes, our books change with it.
