“the messenger who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads” — Genesis 48:16
On his deathbed Jacob spoke a word no one in Scripture had spoken before him: goel, the one who redeems. He gave that name to the messenger who had met him at Bethel and wrestled with him at the Jabbok. Later the Torah laid down who may redeem: a near kinsman, flesh of the same flesh, who is able to pay. This book follows that word from Genesis to the Lamb of Revelation.
• The three names Jacob called in Genesis 48:15–16, and the one verb that follows them
• What Hosea 12 says about the One Jacob wrestled
• The law of the goel in Leviticus 25, and Boaz in the book of Ruth
• Why Hebrews 2:14 says He partook of flesh and blood
• The Lion of Judah, the slaughtered Lamb, and the name Yeshua
• Born from above, holding on, the door, and abiding: John 3, Matthew 11, John 10, and John 15
Every Scripture passage is quoted in full from the Yeshua Literal Version (YLV), with the key Hebrew and Greek words explained in plain English.
