Leonora Blanche Lang

Leonora Blanche Lang (1851–1933) was a British writer and translator, as well as the wife and longtime literary collaborator of the Scottish author Andrew Lang. She made a significant contribution to the production of the celebrated Colour Fairy Books by translating folk tales and fairy tales from various countries and adapting them for young readers, while also writing several collections of historical and legendary biographies under the name “Mrs. Lang.” In The Red Book of Heroes, published in 1909, she explores the meaning of courage, conscience, responsibility, and sacrifice through the lives of figures from different periods and countries, including Florence Nightingale, Hannibal, and Father Damien.
