About this ebook

A classic British locked room mystery for fans of both thrillers and crime: The Games Keeper

Having fallen on hard times, disgraced soldier turned private investigator John ā€œSlimā€ Hardy is hired by rich and enigmatic land owner Oliver Ozgood to uncover the identity of a mysterious blackmailer.

The man is demanding a fortune in exchange for his silence. He claims to be Dennis Sharp, a former employee of Ozgood, and threatens to reveal secrets that will soil Ozgood’s family name and send the patriarch to prison.

There’s only one problem.

Dennis Sharp is dead, killed by Ozgood himself.

In search of answers, Slim moves to the remote rural hamlet of Scuttleworth in the Devonshire countryside, where he will confront demons both from within and without in his most challenging case yet.

The Games Keeper is the third book in the Slim Hardy Mystery series. While the stories follow a rough sequence, they can be read in any order.

The Man By The Sea, #1 - This book had me immersed in the story lines and so intrigued that I finished the book in one sitting. Good characters and a good pace helped make this an interesting read. 4* The Clockmaker's Secret, #2 - An intense story that kept me glued to the pages. Intriguing story lines, good characters and justice served. 5* The Games Keeper, #3 - Another intense read. You want to put the book down, after you just read the next bit, but then it is the last page. Interesting. Intriguing. Good story lines. 4* The Circus Lights, #8 - A rather sad story; so many losers. At least, the drinking has stopped but not the desire. Still the humbler but with Kay and Don's help and the questions, several events are solved. 4*

Complicated plot which I almost gave up on due to it's never ending twists and turns. The characters were not sympathetic. I finished it because I paid for this book. Book 1 in this series was 100 X better. Disappointed reader.

A bit slow in a couple spots, but came together in the end.
