A young girl, identified as a musical prodigy, is groomed to be a music star since she is 5 years old. The man who takes her under his wings manipulates, threatens, makes her work until she is not able to find joy in her art, dictates what she can or cannot do, in other words, makes her life a living hell. When she meets an Irish guy and they fall in love, the manager's bad temper unravels and the plot thickens. She wants to be free of him but the web he has woven is thick and very difficult to break. Her feelings are mixed sometimes she wants to leave, other times not so much. A good plot, which beyond the lives and crimes, also describes differences between East and West cultures. Although part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
