About this ebook

The Overload Cure is a detailed, practical guide to Energy Management for Overloaded Professionals for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include The Overload Audit, The Four Batteries, The Busyness Trap, The Sleep Repair Plan, Fuel Without the Crash, The Micro-Recovery Workout, The 90-Minute Pulse, Focus Is Currency, The Decision Budget, Work With Your Peak, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

Lowder Melissa is an energy management consultant, speaker, and former operations executive who spent fifteen years leading high-pressure teams in the professional services industry — and who learned about energy management the hard way, when a severe bout of burnout pushed her to the edge of her own career. What began as a personal recovery project became her professional mission: helping overloaded professionals achieve high performance without sacrificing their health, their relationships, or their capacity for joy.

She combines training in organizational behavior with certification as a professional coach, and her work draws on sleep science, performance psychology, and her own experience rebuilding a sustainable career. Melissa has advised executives and rising leaders at global firms, startups, and nonprofit organizations, and her writing on productivity, boundaries, and burnout prevention has appeared in leading business publications including Harvard Business Review and Fast Company. She speaks regularly at conferences and corporate offsites on sustainable performance, with a particular focus on the leaders most at risk: the reliable ones, the high achievers, the people everyone counts on.

She is a long-distance runner and an enthusiastic home cook, and she lives with her family in Austin, Texas. *The Overload Cure* is her first book.
