About this ebook

She thought freedom meant never belonging to anyone again.

He intends to show her that love need not feel like surrender.

Widowed, scandal-marked, and fiercely protective of the independence she nearly lost, Lady Claudia Akford has no intention of remarrying. Society may whisper what it likes; she has survived worse. What she cannot survive, she believes, is placing her heart—and her future—into the hands of another man.

Especially not a man like Henry Shillington, Viscount Hartwell.

Steady, handsome, and devastatingly tender, Henry awakens in Claudia desires she thought long buried. In his company, she finds ease. In his arms, she finds passion. But Henry is not content with stolen kisses or a secret attachment. He wants the whole of her, and Claudia does not know whether she can survive being loved so completely.

As attraction blazes into something deeper, the past closes in and society waits for Claudia to fall. Yet for the first time, walking away may cost her more than surrender ever could.

A sensual Victorian historical romance filled with yearning, scandal, emotional redemption, and a hero who will settle for nothing less than forever.

I've read several books by this author and this one is my favorite. I was initially drawn in by the cover since it features my favorite model. This story is about Claudia and Henry. Her abusive late husband had made a mess of her life. The widowed Claudia attempted to go back to her first love, not realizing that the man had moved on and was now married to another. Henry soon realizes that Claudia is not the horrible person that everyone thinks she is. They live HEA. Free ARC/Booksprout

This Regency Romance is a unique story that touches on a terrible yet sadly true experience which some woman did and still do go through in their relationships. But upon meeting Henry, Claudia had kept it all mostly to herself. Afterwords with a lot of kindness, patience, understanding and through many unpredictable ups and downs which kept me needing to turn the page to find out what would happen next. Ultimately through the test of time love prevailed in the end. I really enjoyed this inspiration story. I highly recommend reading it!
