About this ebook

In a 2018 DuckDuckGo test, 76 people searched the same term at the same moment and got back 62 different first pages. That number broke something for me. I had been treating my own name-search like a fixed object, a thing I could check once and trust. It is not a fixed object. It is whatever Google decides to surface this morning, in this city, to a stranger who is not logged in as me.

I run three small businesses, and I learned this the slow way: a buyer in an engineering tender quietly searches the founder's name before he replies to the quotation. He never tells you he did it. The first page he sees either earns the meeting or kills it before the email goes out. When I finally ran my own name from an incognito window and then again through a US exit node, the two first pages did not match. Different sidebar, different image row, an old job I had half forgotten sitting near the top.

This is the audit I wish someone had handed me earlier. How to search your own name the way a stranger actually sees it, across cities and name variants and the image, video, and news tabs most people never open. What it takes to anchor yourself as an entity Google recognizes, with a Person schema block, a sameAs array, a Wikidata QID, and the long patient work of pushing a better result above a worse one. I am not selling you a clean reputation in a weekend. I am showing you what is actually there.

If you have never run a logged-out reputation audit on your founder presence, this is a working manual for personal SEO, knowledge panel claiming, Person schema, and Wikidata for operators who would rather know than guess. Written from running small businesses in Indonesia, but the audit and the diagnostics hold the same in any emerging market or any small shop anywhere.
