Nerida went home to Navalis, and home turned out to be a cell.
Moira doesn't find out for months — months of waiting and not knowing. When deadly monsters attack and and she understands that Nerida is in danger somewhere below the surface, she stops waiting. She goes in. The water is dark and the air bubble around her is shrinking and her magic doesn't work down here, but she has never in her life been able to leave Nerida somewhere dangerous and just walk away...
She gets her out. They go home. And home is where the real fractures show.
Wystan is barely holding together, grief turning to rage. Moira keeps her feelings at arm's length the way she always has, because looking directly at them would mean admitting too much.
Neithland is where all of that stops working. The cursed gray wasteland finds every cracked thing and opens it wider.
Some things break there. Others finally, painfully, come together.
If you love clean epic fantasy with a found family at its heart and a story brave enough to go into the dark places, the Elemental Saga has more waiting for you.
Camilla Vavruch writes fantasy stories filled with magic, misfits, and found family. She is a medical doctor by training and an author by calling, balancing clinical work with a deep commitment to storytelling and creativity.
Her writing is character-driven and emotionally grounded, often exploring themes of belonging, courage, and chosen family. She enjoys weaving warmth and hope into fantastical settings, creating stories that balance adventure with heart.
Camilla is the author of three series, The Elemental Saga and Stories of Gereon, (both set in the same universe, but with entirely different characters and focus), and Sugar and Scales. Currently, she’s working on The Greenhouse Keeper’s Guide to Magical Gardening, which is coming to Kickstarter in the fall of 2026. All of Camilla’s stories include found family (her favorite trope!), at least a touch of hurt/comfort, and a healthy dose of fantastical creatures.
Beyond writing, Camilla enjoys developing the visual and creative elements that accompany her books. Her stories frequently include queer representation and richly imagined worlds that invite readers to stay awhile.
Camilla lives in Sweden with her husband and three children. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found with a pen in hand, sketching new ideas, baking, or dreaming up her next project.
