About this ebook

Somebody is raising Boston's dead. Emma Walsh just took the pulse of the one man in the city who can stop it — and her whole world went quiet.
Emma has spent twelve years as a paramedic running toward death — and feeling it coming before her monitors do. She's hidden the death-sense her entire career. It's cost her everything soft in her life, and she's made her peace with that.
Then a stranger steps in front of a speeding car to save a child, shatters half his skeleton, and heals on the curb in twenty minutes. When Emma takes his pulse, two things happen: a bond older than the city detonates behind her sternum. And for the first time in her life, the screaming goes silent.
Azrael was the Angel of Death. Now he runs Boston's supernatural emergencies, cooks like it's a love language, and has never once — in six hundred years of being feared — wanted to keep something for himself. Until her.
But beneath the city, the uncrossed dead are being bound into an army. Tricorn hats. Musket fire. Eyes like grave-light. And the necromancer building it knows Boston's magical underbelly better than anyone alive — because he's one of the men who's spent his life holding it together for no thanks and less pay.
She runs from intimacy the way she runs toward death. He's about to stand still long enough to catch her.
Tropes & content include: fated mates · he falls first (and cooks) · sunshine hero x armored heroine · hidden power disguised as competence · blue-collar magic vs. old money · found family · hurt/comfort

Steam: explicit, high heat. 18+.

HEA: yes — no cliffhanger. Reads as a standalone.

This is the 4th book of the series and it is a thing of beauty. The writing, the plot, the characters - do not disappoint. The world is vivid and alive. The reader becomes immersed in it. This book is long and more emotional than usual due to the nature of main characters - loss, death and grief. I liked the parallels between chains and life - as a reader, makes you stop and think. I liked reading the different POVs from the same situation from different characters Recommended.

This is both a love story between the angel of death Ace and Emma a paramedic in Boston and the tale of what happens when you do the wrong thing for the right reasons. It also connects the other stories in the series and sets it up for the next reckoning between all of the FRU and whatever entity is within the depths. 4✨’s for a well written story with heat and heart. I received a copy of this book from the author and I am choosing to leave this review.

Absolutely loved this one so much. The main characters were amazing. This story was intense and loving. I loved the world building and the description. The emt and death. Loved that storyline. And the way they came together was phenomenal. Healing through sexual contact. Different, but it worked. I really loved being able to read this one. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
