About this ebook

"The prison is failing. The seal will not hold."
The warning hits all four cities in the same hour. A cherub wrecking havoc in Chicago. A sphinx speaking in riddles on a New Orleans dock. A song under Los Angeles that predates music. In Boston, a scar that never healed tears itself open again.
Under Mount Shasta, something older than history is coming apart: a prison holding two hundred angels — and a grief four thousand years deep that has learned how to sing through stone.
For the first time, the entire Fallen Response Unit converges. Uriel and Sarah. Raziel and Luna. Seraphina and Jake. Azrael and Emma. Eight people bound across the line between mortal and divine — plus Mathias, the last living Nephilim, whose blood opens locks that were never supposed to open, and a mountain full of the dead who never left.
Then the architect steps out of the dark, and they finally understand: every monster they've fought, every city they've bled for — all of it was a rehearsal. They were a precursor to a jailbreak.
He has twelve wings, the oldest grievance in creation, and an argument none of them can prove wrong. What he doesn't have — yet — is the key.
This is the storm the series has been building toward. Every couple. One mountain. No way out but through.
Tropes & content include: ensemble reunion · found family under fire · fated bonds tested · morally gray villain who might be right · competence under pressure · ticking clock · prank wars before the storm
Steam: lower on-page heat than earlier books — the intensity here is everything else. 18+.
Series note: not a standalone — read books 1–4 first. The story concludes in Book 6, Enduring Light.
Book 5 of The Fallen Response Unit: fallen angels running the supernatural emergencies no one else can survive.

Nooooo! That's the review. Just no. Alright now thats out my system I'm mad at the twist this story took and the grief that is still resonating in my book soul. The one that makes these characters real and a part of my everyday life. I want to believe love is enough to conquer vengeance but I know better. Let there be restoration in the next episode because right now I am wrecked. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

S.D. Maynard managed to completely wreck me with this book ! The death of a main character is never easy to handle, but one that has so much going on in their life, that literally gives their life for the good of mankind and leaves so much good behind… I cried for the last 30 % of the book ! We lost so much more than an Angel, we also had characters who transitioned from one form to another and we have no way of knowing if the survive or not and other relationships that change. 5✨’s
