Before the glass slipper, before the ball, before the legend—Cinderella was a girl trying to survive in a world ruled by cruelty, secrets, and forbidden magic.
Hidden away in a powerful household, Ella lives under the constant threat of punishment if anyone discovers the truth about her strange abilities. Magic is feared. Witches are hunted. And one mistake could cost her everything.
When a mysterious stranger appears and whispers that Ella’s past is far more dangerous than she ever imagined, her carefully controlled life begins to unravel. Dark forces are moving inside the royal court. Old rivalries are resurfacing. And someone is watching her far too closely.
To protect herself—and the people she loves—Ella must decide whether to keep hiding… or embrace the power that could make her a target of the crown itself.
But magic always demands a price.
Lost is the first book in a sweeping historical fantasy series that reimagines the Cinderella legend with court intrigue, hidden magic, slow-burn danger, and a heroine forced to choose between safety and destiny.
Perfect for readers who enjoy fairy-tale retellings, clean fantasy adventure, and richly imagined historical worlds.
Ron Vitale is a fantasy and science fiction author. Influenced by the likes of Tolkien, Margaret Atwood, C. S. Lewis, and Philip Pullman, he has a Master’s degree in English Literature from Villanova University where he studied the works of Alice Walker and Margaret Atwood. For his thesis, he interpreted Walker’s and Atwood’s novels through a psychological Jungian approach by showing how the central female protagonists use storytelling as a means to heal themselves from trauma. He lives in a small town outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and keeps himself busy by writing his blog and on learning how to be a good father to his kids all while working on his next book.
