About this ebook

Zero Procrastination is a detailed, practical guide to How to Stop Procrastinating and Start Getting Things Done for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include The Hidden Root of Procrastination, The Procrastination Self-Audit, The Action Trigger Method, Case Study: From Overwhelm to Output, The Two-Minute Momentum Rule, The Decision Fatigue Cure, The Productivity Environment Overhaul, The Weekly Planning Rhythm, The Motivation Myth, The Discipline Habit Stack, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

Raymond Carpenter is a writer, researcher, and productivity coach who has spent over a decade studying the psychology of procrastination, motivation, and behavior change. His work focuses on bridging the gap between what people know they should do and what they actually do—a gap he believes is the central challenge of modern life.

After years of struggling with his own chronic procrastination, Carpenter began systematically researching the underlying mechanisms: the neuroscience of decision fatigue, the emotional regulation function of avoidance, the role of perfectionism and fear, and the environmental and systemic factors that enable delay. He synthesized findings from cognitive psychology, behavioral economics, and neuroscience into a practical framework that he first tested on himself, then with private clients, and eventually through workshops and online programs.

Carpenter's approach is distinctly anti-gimmick. He rejects productivity porn, morning routine fetishization, and the "hustle harder" mentality that dominates much of the self-help space. Instead, he advocates for honest self-diagnosis, environment design, and sustainable systems that work with human psychology rather than against it. His writing is direct, research-backed, and refreshingly free of the breathless optimism that characterizes most productivity advice.

Before becoming a full-time writer and coach, Carpenter worked as a software engineer and product manager in the tech industry, where he observed firsthand how smart, motivated people struggled to execute on their own priorities. That experience shaped his conviction that procrastination is not a character flaw but a design problem—one that can be solved with the right systems.

Carpenter lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and two children. When he is not writing or coaching, he can be found trail running in the Columbia River Gorge, playing jazz guitar badly, or reading history books about civilizations that collapsed because they couldn't solve their coordination problems. He believes that the ability to take consistent, focused action is the single most underrated skill in the modern world, and he has made it his life's work to help people develop it.

*Zero Procrastination* is his first book. He is currently working on a second book about the relationship between attention, technology, and meaningful work.
