About this ebook

Stillness is a deeply personal journey through love, heartbreak, loneliness, family, regret, healing and the quiet discovery of peace. Written from the perspective of someone who spent years searching for fulfilment in other people, this book revisits the versions of ourselves we become while trying to be loved— the ones who chase, overgive, forgive, stay, break, rebuild and eventually learn to let go. It is not a guide to finding perfect love, but a collection of honest conversations about learning to understand yourself, accepting what cannot be changed, and finding stillness after the chaos.

About the author

Chad Duo, born Lucky Manakane, is a South African architectural designer, poet and writer whose work explores love, heartbreak, vulnerability, healing, loneliness and the complexities of human connection. Writing from a deeply personal perspective, Chad turns ordinary experiences, memories and emotional struggles into reflective poetry and prose.

His earlier works include the poetry collections Her Scars, This Is a Piece, and I Wish I Wrote You, each exploring different expressions of love, pain, longing and the human experience.

With Stillness, Chad moves beyond simply writing about heartbreak and begins to explore what comes after it—the silence, self-understanding, acceptance and peace that can emerge when we finally stop searching outside ourselves for what we need within.

His writing is an ongoing conversation between who he was, who he became, and who he is still learning to be.
