About this ebook

The #1 national bestseller about a woman who escapes an abusive marriage is “one of Stephen King’s most engrossing horror novels. Relentlessly paced and brilliantly orchestrated...fueled by an air of danger immediate and overwhelming” (Publishers Weekly).

"What woke her up was a single drop of blood, no larger than a dime."

After surviving fourteen years of hell in a violently abusive marriage, Rosie Daniels finally summons the courage to flee for her life. But leaving her husband, Norman, for a new city and a new start is a very daunting prospect. It's hard for Rosie not to keep looking over her shoulder, and with good reason—Norman's a police officer with the instincts of a predator, a force of relentless terror and savagery…a man almost mythic in his monstrosity. He's very good at finding people, even if he is losing his mind. Rosie’s only hope for salvation may lie in a far more dangerous place, where she must become her own myth and the woman she never knew she could be....

The story of Rosie escaping her abusive husband and making friends with the battered womens centers' leaders and residents was really cool. The relationship building the story tells is a great and welcome addition to the book. Her relationship with her love interest is also a very welcoming addition. The abusive husband's tracking skills and blatant violence is so interesting to read and terrifying in knowing there are nuts like these out in the real world... It makes it real. The sheer language and violence expressed by the husband makes this book amazing. The slip comes a little after halfway through the book. The addition of the other world Rosie visits is unnecessary. I understand SK involves fantasy/horror into most of his books, but this one should have remained a story that we could actually visualize happening. A realistic telling. In true SK fashion, the ending was blah. Not horrible, but definitely not a memorable one. It lives in my mind as a 2.5/5

If you like a dose of real life, with a dose of the supernatural fantasy, then you will like this book. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King novels, and for the most part, they never dissapoint. Some parts can be confusing, especially at the end, but overall, I really enjoyed this book. Sometimes, revenge is the sweetest. But theirs always a price to pay. Ever wondered what it's like to jump in a picture? This book takes you there.
