About this ebook

He’s a billionaire with a fortress around his heart. She’s the security expert trained to break through.

Anthony Morgan is the last man Em Fletcher should ever work for. As an Italian billionaire with a sharp jawline and an even sharper tongue, he looks at Em like she’s the ultimate threat to his family empire. He thinks she’s still loyal to her former best friend, the woman who shattered the Morgan family and stole a secret that should have never been touched.

But Em isn't there for the past; she’s there to do a job.

As a former Marine, Em is used to war zones, not boardrooms. When a high-stakes kidnapping thrusts the House of Morgan into chaos, she’s the only one capable of bringing their youngest heir home. But the closer she gets to the truth, the harder it is to ignore the electric tension with Anthony.

In a world of opulence and hidden bruises, Anthony is a distraction she can't afford. But when a shocking revelation about her own noble ancestry comes to light, Em realizes that the most dangerous mission of all isn't the one she was hired for. It's letting herself belong to the man who finally sees her.

True passion isn't found in a gilded cage. It’s earned in the fire.

3 1/2 stars for me. Emily was good at her job, and her connection to the situation was very personal. Anthony was very protective of her but also impressed with how she was willing to protect him. They did make a steamy couple, but Emily had her doubts about where she fit in his world, so she was very hesitant. The threats to certain Morgan family members brought an edge to the story, and I felt it was a strong story. I did feel that there was a little too much indecision about feelings.

Secret Keeper is the first book this author has published since 2020 and I was very excited to read it. Victoria Pinder has always been a one-click favorite of mine. However, i feel her writing was adversely affected with the 5-year sabbatical. While the plot was interesting, I found her novel somewhat disjointed and not up to her usual writing. That said, I think rereading the prior book (Secret Lover) is necessary to reconnect with her characters. Even though Secret Keeper didn't have the WOW factor, it was still an entertaining novel. 3 1/2 stars
