Unarmed

Troy Duncan is trying to get home to his family when a confrontation with a veteran Cleveland police officer changes both their lives.

Officer Marc Baldwin says he responded to a routine call and fired his weapon when circumstances turned dangerous.

Troy tells a different story.

Now attorney Casey Cort is finally building the kind of practice she wanted—pro bono adoption work, fewer moral compromises, and a chance to leave the ugliest parts of criminal defense behind.

Then an unexpected referral puts her in the middle of a high-profile police shooting.

With Cleveland on the verge of a riot and two irreconcilable accounts of a single bullet, Casey has to navigate a case in which everyone has already decided who is guilty—and justice may depend on what happened in the seconds no one can agree on.

Unarmed is Book 5 in the Casey Cort Legal Thriller series, a character-driven legal thriller about justice, perception, and what happens when one moment divides an entire city.
