About this ebook

When the men went to war, an old enemy found its opening.

After more than sixty years as a vampire, Alice Bladewell has proven that grace, not nature, decides who she is.

She has built a life, a Rule, and a family of Sisters around that one conviction, and she has never once had to test it against her own history.

Pearl Harbor changes that.

Conscripted into the night shift at a Charleston shipyard, Alice finds herself working alongside women who trust her with everything but the truth — and a man from her own past who wants something from her she swore, decades ago, she would never give again.

Something is moving through the Yard in the shadows.

It wears a familiar face.

Alice has one chance to stop it without becoming, once more, the very thing she has spent her whole existence trying not to be.

Some wars are fought with armies.

Hers is fought one soul at a time. And this time, the enemy already knows her name.

Alice is back and this time working with gals at a Pearl Harbor job and this leads to a wild read. I loved seeing Alice again and watching her deal with what she is forced again to deal with. Surprises, drama, deals and so much more is going on and I loved watching it all unfold.

War comes to Charleston. A new generation, a new war, same enemy – hate versus love. Alice and the sisters are conscripted for the war effort: working alongside living women riveting panels in the shipyard. After years of silence, Desiderius returns to call in a favor that could violate the Rule she has followed for decades. Theophilus Monroe has done it again: delivering a story that kept me up all night reading and tangling my mind in a web of philosophy and questions. I love this series!
