About this ebook

The year is 1914, and the world is holding its breath.

In a hidden Manhattan convent, Alice Bladewell has finally found peace, shepherding a flock of vampires toward redemption through faith and discipline.

But the shadows of her past have long memories.

When the Order of the Morning Dawn surfaces within the U.S. War Department, they present Alice with a brutal ultimatum: provide twelve vampire "assets" for the European front, or watch her mentor, Bishop Harkins, be destroyed by scandal.

Forced from her sanctuary into the blood-soaked trenches of Ypres, Alice must lead her sisters and brothers into a conflict that threatens to consume what remains of their souls.

Theophilus Monroe delivers a richly atmospheric period piece with historical authenticity, high-stakes suspense, and a steady surge of action and drama. It is the kind of story that doesn’t just entertain. It pulls you into a world with rules, danger, and moral consequences, then refuses to let you go. Dawn's Requiem, isn’t a typical page-turner. It’s gripping in a quieter, more relentless way. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Poor Alice. I don’t know how she perseveres in the face of military jerks like Dr. Gallow and General Gantry. Both are deplorable examples of the human race. Mercer wasn’t any better. I liked that Alice, Desiderius, and Catherine found an unlikely ally in a Lycanthrope. I loved THAT twist! This was a fun book to read and the story was enthralling!

these are not fuzzy rabbit vamps, sexy hotties in gorgeous locales, or warm and steamy figures in high school or college dramas with eye candy, as amusing as those stories sometimes are. these are creatures seeking redemption, reform and different choices in their undead lives forced into the deceits and devastations of war, that eat what remains of their souls. emotional, poignant, engulfing reading that leaves some bruising behind.
