About this ebook

The road to becoming a Guardian grows darker.

After choosing compassion over power at the Third Gate, Kouassi Yao and his companions

continue their journey toward the eastern highlands, where legends speak of an ancient Gate

hidden among mountains that touch the clouds.

Yet peace is becoming increasingly fragile.

I appreciate that the characters have different definitions of what success actually means. For one person, winning might mean getting the truth, while another might care more about protecting someone they love. Those conflicting priorities make their decisions much harder to predict. I’m really interested in seeing what happens when those goals eventually collide.

Ngl, I think the little moments between the major scenes are what make this story work so well. They give you time to understand the characters instead of constantly throwing plot points at you. I especially liked the casual interaction here because it revealed something without making a big announcement about it. Those are the kinds of details that stay in my head afterward. I’m definitely paying closer attention now.

The humor in this chapter was a nice surprise. It appeared naturally through the characters’ personalities rather than interrupting the serious parts of the story. A couple of moments genuinely made me laugh. 😂
