About this ebook

In a world where the boundary between the living and the dead has begun to crumble, twenty-two-year-old Elara Voss discovers she is the last in a forgotten bloodline of Soul Keepers—guardians who can see, touch, and protect the essence of every human soul.

When an ancient entity known as the Hollow King rises from the spirit realm to harvest the souls of the living, Elara is thrust into a desperate war between worlds. She must navigate the treacherous Spirit Market where souls are traded as currency, cross the Forest of Forgotten Names where lost souls wander for eternity, and descend into the Hollow itself—a dimension of pure darkness where the King feeds on stolen essence.

With the help of a rogue spirit hunter haunted by his own secrets, a blind seer who speaks in riddles, and a soulless wanderer desperate to reclaim what was taken from him, Elara must embrace her destiny before the Hollow King tears open the Shattered Gate and plunges both worlds into eternal night.

The Soul Keeper is a sweeping supernatural fantasy about the price of sacrifice, the resilience of the human spirit, and the terrifying power of a soul that refuses to be broken.

About the author

Jeremy Johnson is a contemporary author of supernatural fantasy fiction whose work draws deeply from the well of global folklore, mythology, and the liminal spaces where the ordinary world meets the extraordinary. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Jeremy developed an early fascination with the stories that live in the margins of human experience — the ghost tales told around campfires, the myths whispered by grandparents, the legends that cling to old buildings and ancient forests like mist.

The Soul Keeper is Jeremy's third novel and the culmination of years of research into keeper traditions, spirit lore, and the universal human need to believe that the boundary between the living and the dead is neither as thin nor as impermeable as it appears. The novel has been praised for its vivid world-building, emotionally complex characters, and its central thesis: that true strength lies not in power, but in the courage to choose connection over isolation, compassion over control.

Jeremy lives with his family in a house full of books, where the Pacific rain provides a constant soundtrack and the forest outside the window looks exactly like the kind of place where a Veil might be thin. He is currently at work on his next novel, which explores the mythology of forgotten places and the stories that refuse to stay buried. When not writing, he can be found hiking old-growth forests, collecting obscure folklore anthologies, and attempting to teach his children that the strange noises in old houses are probably just pipes. Probably.
