About this ebook

A grumpy gentleman, a headstrong matchmaker, and a battle of hearts neither expected…

Philippa Clavering prides herself on her matchmaking skills—whether others appreciate them or not. When she realizes her dear friend is falling for entirely the wrong gentleman, she takes it upon herself to set things right. But her plans keep colliding with one frustrating obstacle: her friend’s older brother, the infuriatingly practical Jack Blythefield.

Jack has finally decided it’s time to marry—preferably a quiet, agreeable wife who won’t disrupt his well-ordered life. What he doesn’t need is Philippa, with her madcap schemes and uncanny ability to turn his world upside down.

But when his family’s reputation is suddenly at risk, Philippa is the one he must rely on. And as another suitor sets his sights on her, Jack is forced to ask himself: does he truly want a calm, predictable life—or the one woman who drives him to distraction in the most irresistible way?

A delightful, slow-burn Regency romance full of wit, charm, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after!

I loved getting to experience Philippa Holds Court as an audiobook this time around. I had already loved this enemies-to-lovers story, but I enjoyed it all the more thanks to Stevie Zimmerman's narration. She truly brought to life all the characters, and both Philippa's and Jack's voices were perfect. Of course, she nailed all the nuances in the story (from cold and indifferent to impassioned declarations of love) as well as portraying various voices for characters both old and young, serious or effusive. Surprisingly, the political talk (which still reminds me of Poldark Season 4) was easier to follow, though perhaps this being a re-read was the main reason it helped. Either way, I'd definitely recommend it and say it's best enjoyed as a great sequel (though I guess it can also stand on its own), since it allows the reader to see how previous characters are doing (mainly Lucius and Selena); and now I'm certainly ready to dive into George's story. :) ~ 5 stars!
