About this ebook

A lucky break isn’t always what it seems.

Sometimes at the bottom of a mine, justice goes BOOM.

Anthony Wolfe is coasting through the last posting of his long career as Manager of the MonJaro mining operations on the remote planet of Shadetree. He’s counting the days until his retirement, and then an unlikely explosion kills one of his engineers, and nothing stacks square.

His search for answers puts him in the crosshairs of corporate management. They waste no time replacing the dead man and ordering Wolfe to back off, but when the new engineer shows up with a ship full of high-tech equipment and an agenda that has nothing to do with mining, he just can’t let it go.

Now, he has a choice: Turn a blind eye, or keep looking for answers and risk everything. But Wolfe has never been one to walk away. As he bores toward the truth, he uncovers a dangerous secret that someone is willing to kill to protect.

By the time he realizes what he’s stumbled into, he may have lost his last chance to escape.

Dig into Shadetree Witness today and unearth the truth in this exciting prequel to Wings of Earth: Echoes of Starlight.

Very favourable. This was my first read of this author. I enjoyed the contemporary hard science fiction aspect of this book, as it has been a breath of fresh air after struggling to find something more substantial that the mystical ramblings of the fantasy genre over the last decades. That said I found the characters complex and believable and the book written intelligently with the fast-paced action of an excellent space opera. I couldn't put it down and I'm desirous to read more of the same.

About the author

Eric is known as a writer of harder-edge Science Fiction novels with believable characters, action-packed plots, and a solid science foundation that provides the backdrop for the story. He lives in the beautiful high country of New Mexico's Manzano Mountains (where the winter weather has occasionally been said to resemble the outback of Mars). Before becoming a writer, he was Director of Research for a private consulting laboratory in Phoenix where, among other things, he experimented with inertial propulsion and power generation technologies.

When not writing, Eric plays guitar and bass and occasionally dabbles in art of various forms.

He also owns way too many dogs… and, as a result, is often seen fighting heroically against mountains of dog-hair.
