About this ebook

The advancement of science and technology has transformed medical and health sciences into data-intensive, evidence-driven disciplines. In this evolving landscape, the ability to design sound research, collect reliable data, and apply appropriate statistical techniques has become essential for students, researchers, and healthcare professionals alike. “RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND MEDICAL STATISTICS” is conceived as a comprehensive guide to understanding the principles, processes, and analytical tools that underpin high-quality medical and health research. This book explores the foundations of research methodology alongside the practical application of medical statistics, emphasizing their interdependent roles in generating valid and reliable scientific evidence. It addresses key components of the research process, including problem identification, study design, sampling techniques, data collection, measurement scales, ethical considerations, and reporting standards. The text is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice by presenting concepts in a clear, systematic, and learner-friendly manner. Realistic examples from medical and public health research are used to illustrate how methodological choices and statistical analyses directly influence research outcomes, clinical decision-making, and health policy formulation. The primary objective of this book is to serve as a practical and accessible resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers, educators, clinicians, and allied health professionals. By fostering methodological rigor and statistical literacy, this work aims to empower readers to critically evaluate research literature, design their own studies with confidence, and contribute meaningfully to evidence-based medicine and public health practice. It is hoped that this book will support learning, teaching, and research, and play a constructive role in strengthening the quality and impact of medical and health sciences research.
