I write from personal experience, looking at recognition, masking, self-diagnosis, formal diagnosis, sensory strain, overload, shutdown, burnout, low-demand days, routines, food, sleep, housework, social energy, communication, friendship, relationships, family, work, healthcare, therapy, medication and support.
I especially wanted to focus on rebuilding self-trust and self-esteem after years of being misunderstood, rejected, talked over, overlooked or left on the edge of groups. The book includes practical tools, appointment sheets, sensory profiles, adjustment lists, overload plans and useful scripts.
This is not a book about becoming normal. It is about understanding ourselves better and building lives that finally include us.
