The project emerged from a period of uncertainty in which Simpson used visual art and music as methods of reflection, experimentation and creative continuity. Working intuitively and improvisatorily, he explored new ways of responding to isolation, everyday experience and the emotional atmosphere of the period.
During this process, Simpson also developed the music projects Love Is the Secret, Illegal Migrant, Tribal Soul and Memórias do Vento, while producing the paintings and visual studies collected in this publication.
The book brings these images together as a personal visual record of the lockdown period, documenting creativity, introspection and the role of artistic practice during conditions of uncertainty.
