Brian McCoy is a business English trainer and communication coach with more than fifteen years of experience developing customer service professionals around the world. He has worked with contact centers, support teams, and quality departments across Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, where he has trained more than thirty thousand agents, team leads, and customer experience managers for global brands in banking, e-commerce, telecommunications, and travel.
He began his career as an English language teacher and earned the Cambridge CELTA and DELTA qualifications before moving into corporate training. It was there that he made the observation that shaped his entire approach: the English taught in classrooms is not the English that customer service professionals actually need. After listening to thousands of recorded calls, he built a training method organized around the real language of service: openings, clarifications, empathy phrases, de-escalation, hold language, transfers, and closings. Front-Line English grew directly out of that work and is the training method he now delivers to teams on four continents.
His philosophy is simple: language for customer service is a practical skill, not an academic subject. He believes agents should be measured by the customers they help, not the sentences they construct, and that deliberate daily practice beats natural talent every time. Brian is the founder of the Front-Line English training program, and his materials are used by in-house support teams and business process outsourcing providers alike. He is currently based in Manila, where he continues to design training programs and coach service teams for international companies. When he is not listening to call recordings or building phrase libraries, he is an enthusiastic consumer of customer service himself, and he can often be found testing a company's hold music and email response times from his own kitchen table.
