About this ebook

Spanish at Work is a detailed, practical guide to Everyday Spanish Conversation Skills for Working Professionals for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include Where You Stand: Diagnose Your Workplace Spanish Level, The Conversation Starter Toolkit, Kitchen Talk: Casual Small Talk with Coworkers, Sound Repair Workshop: Pronunciation That Lands, The Morning Meeting: Participate with Confidence, The 10-Day Speaking Sprint, What Did You Say? Recovery Drills for Getting Lost, Phone and Video Calls: From Hello to Next Steps, The Professional's Error Audit: 25 Fixes for Credibility, Lunch, Coffee, and After Work: Social Spanish That Builds Trust, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

Brian Johnson is a language educator and corporate communication trainer with more than fifteen years of experience helping working professionals communicate across languages. He is the author of *Spanish at Work* and the creator of workplace language programs used by teams in finance, technology, healthcare, and hospitality across North America and Europe.

He learned Spanish the way he teaches it: on the job. After graduating with a degree in international studies, he moved to Madrid, where he coordinated projects for a European logistics firm, and later to Mexico City, where he managed operations and led bilingual teams through client launches, supplier negotiations, and late-night production crises. Those years taught him which phrases actually matter in a workday — and which grammar rules rarely come up in a meeting.

He holds a master's degree in applied linguistics and is a certified instructor of Spanish for professional purposes. His training programs have helped thousands of professionals give their first presentations, lead their first calls, and send their first emails in Spanish. He has written and spoken about language learning at industry events, and his methods have been adopted by corporate learning and development teams at global organizations.

Brian lives in Austin, Texas, with his family. When he's not teaching, he is usually climbing, cooking, or explaining to his children — in Spanish, of course — why learning a second language is the best superpower a person can have.
