Brian Johnson is a career coach, former recruiter, and two-time career changer who has spent more than fifteen years helping mid-career professionals move into work that fits their strengths. Early in his own path, he left a decade in education to join talent acquisition, and later moved again—this time from recruiting into coaching. Twice he learned the same lesson that anchors this book: the skills that made him effective never changed, only the setting, and the hardest part of every transition was learning to describe himself in a new language.
As a recruiter for a national services company, he reviewed thousands of resumes and hired across sales, operations, and support roles, which gave him a front-row view of why most career-change applications fail: capable candidates bury transferable skills beneath industry jargon and outdated job titles. That insight became the foundation of his coaching method, refined through work with hundreds of clients in education, healthcare, technology, retail, manufacturing, and the nonprofit sector.
Brian leads resume clinics and career-transition workshops for universities, professional associations, and workforce-development programs, and his writing on career change has appeared in professional-development and job-search publications. *The Resume Rewrite Workbook* is his first book.
He lives in Denver, Colorado, with his family, and when he is not coaching he is usually hiking, teaching himself a new skill, or rewriting his own resume—just to keep in practice.
