The Puzzle Palace Under the Sea
Deep in the Sapphire Sea, Otto Eightarms Octopus lived in Coralbright Reef, a bright and lovely place. A lot of different kinds of fish, crabs, turtles, seahorses, clams, and tiny shrimp lived in the reef. Otto was a young purple octopus who liked puzzles, crimes, tools, and machines that didn't work. He was proud of having eight arms because they let him use many tools at once.
Otto liked fixing doors, opening locked shells, making small machines, and finding new uses for old things. It had keys, gears, ropes, shells, glass, and pieces from ships that had sunk. Otto thought he could handle most issues on his own. He often joked, "I already have eight arms," when someone offered to help. That's a whole group.
Otto found an old black doorway buried in the sand one day. The door was covered with strange symbols. When Otto solved the first puzzle, the doorway opened to show stairs that led down to the ocean floor.
The strange Puzzle Palace was behind the door.
Otto found glowing rooms, hidden passages, moving symbols, strange locks, musical doors, and tough puzzles inside. His first thought was to handle everything by himself. He quickly learned, though, that different kinds of skills were needed for different kinds of problems.
Professor Puff could carefully watch things and see trends. Shelly Seahorse knew about sound and song. Clawdia Crab knew about tools, forms, and how things fit together.
They each answered a puzzle on their own, but together they were able to figure it out.
Otto finally understood a key lesson: being smart does not mean knowing everything.
You can become truly smart by watching, listening, building, making, asking questions, and learning from other people.
Otto learned that not being the smartest animal in the sea wasn't his biggest strength. They learned how much more they could get done when people with different ideas worked together.
