THE IRON CRUSADE
By Israel Diamond
To kill a monster, the Church had to forge one.
When the Vanguard of the Prophet executes a beloved priest on global television, the secular world responds with empty diplomatic condemnations. Pope Leo XIV responds with something else entirely: an American armored division.
Discarding centuries of peaceful doctrine, the Vatican leases the most advanced military hardware on earth, recruits forty thousand grieving civilian volunteers, and launches an unprecedented, mechanized holy war into the heart of the African continent. Their target: Khalid Al-Zubair, the elusive mastermind behind the world's most terrifying terror network.
For General Ron Cooper, the "Iron Shepherd," the campaign is a brutal, calculated equation of mechanized slaughter. But for David Miller, a quiet carpenter from Ohio, the Crusade is a descent into a living nightmare. From the suffocating, bounding-mine-laced jungles of Cameroon to the toxic, subterranean sewers of Nigeria, David and his brothers-in-arms are forced to speak the language of monsters to defeat them.
As the Crusade sweeps across the continent, the Crusaders win every battle, but the moral cost is catastrophic. Dysentery, heatstroke, and the sheer psychological weight of close-quarters slaughter begin to rot the army from the inside out. They will soon discover that while thermobaric strikes and 9mm hollow-points can eradicate an enemy, they cannot silence the ghosts left in their wake.
The Vanguard will be broken. The hostages will be saved. But the men who survive the African crucible will learn a terrifying truth: the sword of the Church, once drawn, can never be sheathed.
The holy war has only just begun.
Hailing from a small island in the western Caribbean, I dedicated my early life to Religious Studies, earning a Masters in Religion and Theology. Complementing this, I also hold an A.A.S. in Applied Sciences, specializing in both MicroBiology and Chemistry.
My literary pursuits are deeply rooted in a lifelong appreciation for "weekend books"—concise, 10-to-20-chapter narratives designed for leisure reading. Upon embarking on my professional writing career, I deliberately focused on this specific genre with the objective of providing readers with the same sense of fulfillment these brief works afforded me. While my portfolio has expanded to include several full-length novels, I retain a particular affinity for the short story format.
