The Snowflake Effect

If love and hate are flipsides of the same coin, pursuing the argumentative woman I simultaneously want to smother and devour can't end badly, right?

Shay Gallagher is smart and sexy and has enough snappy comebacks to fill Aspen valley. She's the exact opposite of my late wife. Definitely not the woman I've pictured in my future, helping raise my son.

Good thing this is only a vacation fling. Or, more accurately, a hate-fueled shag-a-thon in Aspen's snow-covered trees, on the chairlift, even a few choice bathrooms. We've agreed our explosive hookups end when we return home to the opposite sides of Canada. Nothing good can come from this much combustible magnetism.

So why do I text her that I'll be spending the summer in Toronto on a business trip? Why do I chase her to go out with me again, like I'm in some kind of Wooing Olympics? I even use my son to win her over.

There's just something about Shay. Her ease with Jackson, the laughs and banter we share. Trouble is, we still live a country apart, and Shay has declared she doesn't want to get snowballed into another man's life by upending her own.

Surely two people this shockingly good together can still conquer these mounting odds . . .
