About this app

Hi, I'm Patrik. I made Material Digital Picture because I wanted my watch to
show something I actually love — my own photos — and still feel like part of
the Material Digital family.

The idea is simple: pick one or more pictures from Google Photos on your
phone, and they show up right on your watch face, taking turns as you raise
your wrist. The time sits lightly on top of the photo, the date runs along
the bottom, and nothing else shouts — so the picture gets to be the star.
(Sometimes literally, see below.)

You choose how your photo sits — four shapes:
• STAR, FULL SCREEN — a big soft five-lobe star filling the whole screen.
Just the photo, the time and the day.
• SQUARE, FULL SIZE — a large rounded square for the biggest, calmest picture.
• STAR — a smaller star with three gauges tucked underneath.
• ROUNDED — a rounded square card, also with three gauges below.

On the two shapes with gauges, you get three little dials to fill with
whatever you like: heart rate, steps and weather to start with, but swap in
battery, floors, calories — anything your watch offers. Each one shows the
provider's own icon and value, and they look their best with complications
that track progress or a range, so the ring actually fills up as your day goes
on.

Colour is one accent and nine palettes — Grey, Mint, Lavender, Sky, Peach,
Butter, Rose, Coral and Sage — tinting the gauges and their icons. Pick your
shape, your photos and your colour in the watch face editor.

When the screen goes always-on, everything calms down to a clean white outline
of your shape with the time and date. The photo and gauges go to sleep to
save your battery.

It needs Wear OS 6 — that's the version that brings the Google Photos picker
to watch faces.

No accounts, no ads, no data flying anywhere. Your photos go from your phone to
your watch and stay there; I never see them. It just sits on your wrist and,
I hope, makes you smile a little every time you check the time.
