About this movie

Utterly offbeat and quirky, Bill Forsyth's funny and often touching film stars Christine Lahti as an eccentric aunt who comes out to the Pacific Northwest to live with her orphaned nieces. They soon discover she's no ordinary mom with her rich fantasy life and cluttered house filled knee-keep with newspapers and tin cans. A sad, very well written movie. I think sylvie, the aunt , doesn't want to live in adult realities of life. She has a fantasy, magical type thinking, maybe to make things easier. She is a loner but isn't a bad person. Well Worth the watch

Bill Forsyth made two of my favorites, LOCAL HERO and HOUSEKEEPING. The latter will likely jerk some water from your eyeballs.
