Raised on a farm in rural Indiana, William W. Erwin was a 20-year-old member of the Army Air Corps in World War II. While in the Air Corps, he bought his first 80 acres of farmland with money he earned from 4-H projects. A lifelong farmer and public servant, Will was selected as one of four Outstanding Young Farmers in the United States in 1958. He served as a state senator in Indiana, Assistant Secretary of Agriculture for the United States, an EPA environmental expert, and a noted public speaker. With a degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois, he also fed his passion for history through continuing education classes and reading numerous history books. A world traveler, he told countless stories to his grandchildren on the back roads of Europe. William is now sharing his storytelling gift in the form of his historical fiction books for readers of all ages.
