Lisa grew up taking things apart and playing with the boys. After graduating from college with a degree in English, she started a bicycle shop, attended night school for an engineering degree, and took on odd jobs in residential and commercial construction. Lisa has worked for 3 major U.S. corporations at the executive level, most notably as Chief Training Officer for Tyco Fire and Security Services in Boca Raton, Florida. Most recently, Lisa worked as an avionics manufacturing engineer for MOOG in Murphy, North Carolina. A few of Lisa's avocations are flying and writing. She holds a private pilot license, an FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) airframe and powerplant license (A&P), and she was the first woman to qualify as an AB-DAR, or Amateur-Built Designated Airworthiness Representative for the FAA. Lisa is a member and volunteer for the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). In the 1990s, Lisa built an airplane in her garage - a two-place, 150-mph craft - and flew it from south Florida to Maine and back. Inspired by the experience, she wrote a book about the adventure, called Dream Take Flight. In addition to writing a home improvement column for the Clay County Progress (since 2011), Lisa is also a columnist for Sport Aviation and KITPLANES, two international aviation magazines. Lisa has written five books and is working on her sixth. From home maintenance advice (House Keys and Home Inspection Answers Guide), to time management (Your Simplest Life), problem-solving (Team Steps Guide) and adventure (Dream Take Flight), Lisa is always trying to entertain readers. Her sixth book, a biography of her husband, who restores antiques airplanes, will be released in January 2025. Lisa's books are available on Amazon, Ingram, and Audible. eBook versions start at $3.99. Go to Lisa's author page or web site for more information.
