David J. Krajicek

David J. Krajicek has been telling stories for more than 40 years, as a newspaperman, freelance writer, and author of more than 10 books. A native of South Omaha, Nebraska, he comes from a long line of meatpackers and saloonkeepers--men and women who have told a few stories of their own. A prominent American crime writer, Krajicek wrote a true crime column for the New York Daily News for 20 years and appeared frequently on television as a crime expert. He spent a decade as a Columbia University journalism professor and directed a program at Charles University in Prague. He has published widely in leading newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times and the Guardian. His books include Mass Killers: Inside the Minds of Men Who Murder; Charles Manson: The Man Who Murdered the Sixties; the regional best-seller True Crime: Missouri, The State's Most Notorious Criminal Cases; his acclaimed first book, Scooped: Media Miss Real Story on Crime While Chasing Sex, Sleaze, and Celebrities, and his most recent, a family memoir, Dear Mama: The Krajicek Boys' Letters to Their Runaway Mother. Krajicek spent nearly 30 years as bandleader, trombonist, and vocalist for a New York R&B band. He lives in the Catskill Mountains.
