Christina Nosek

Christina Nosek is currently a 5th grade teacher in the San Francisco Bay area of California; she has previously taught 2nd and 3rd grade, as well, and has served as a literacy coach and reading specialist. She has a small consulting business in which she leads school leaders and teachers through the ins and outs of reading workshop, focusing specifically on the structures and environment necessary to create a literacy community first, in order to support young children as they work toward independence and agency as readers. Her first book, co-authored with Kari Yates about conferring in the elementary classroom, To Know and Nurture a Reader: Conferring with Confidence and Joy (2018) is available from Stenhouse Publishers. Christina and Kari also write a blog of the same title to support teachers in all of their reading instruction efforts. They also published the NCTE Quick Reference Guide Conferring with Readers (2019).
