Bill Sands lives on the North Olympic Peninsula of Washington State far removed from his birthplace and childhood in Massachusetts. He spent a period of his early adulthood living in Tennessee before moving to Montana. He is a veteran of both the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard, logging a combined total of over seventeen years in the two services. He is married with four children and a host of other descendants. He has lived in the contemporary settings of small towns as well as wilderness locations in the Montana wilds. For a period of years he operated a small cattle ranch in Montana and then followed other family members moving westward to Washington State. Here he was involved in a commercial fishing enterprise captaining his own salmon troller and long-line boat. In his retirement years he has furthered his boating interests spending long summers in remote British Columbia waters enjoying his leisure time with his wife and faithful dog Edward.
