Celebrate first milestones—big and little—in this lively, touching picture book featuring clever die-cuts to peek through, from the same creative team behind Alone & Together

The very first time I traveled . . . was through the pages of a book.
The first time I counted to 98 . . . was when I caught chicken pox.
And the very first time I felt like a grown-up . . . was when I became a big brother!

The spare text in this joyful picture book explores a collection of first times—first blush, first winter, first love—only to reveal the surprising reason behind each little milestone. The reader might expect a sad outcome from the scene about a “first goodbye” featuring a little girl and her dog, but the only farewell is to their unruly hair when they get matching haircuts! Charming art and clever peek-through die-cuts reveal unexpected transformations—funny, poignant, silly, sweet—after each page turn. This delightfully poetic picture book explores life’s many small but profoundly significant first experiences, each worthy of celebration.
