The Julio‑Claudians and the Herods

The Julio‑Claudians and the Herods examines two of the most influential dynasties of the early Roman Empire, considering how each constructed political authority, public identity, and legitimacy within the imperial system. It also looks at the points where their interests, narratives, and uses of power intersected.

This volume includes the full texts of two previously published essays: Gaius Caligula’s Reign, Personality and Friendship with M. Julius Agrippa I and The Malhata Fortress on the Roman‑Judaean Negev Frontier.
