Daniel J Jarvis is a certified personal trainer and strength coach with over a decade of experience helping people build their first foundation of strength. He began his own fitness journey as a skinny, uncoordinated teenager who could barely perform a single push-up, and he learned firsthand how frustrating and overwhelming the world of strength training can be for someone starting from zero. That experience shaped his approach to coaching: clear, practical, and free of the jargon and gatekeeping that keep so many beginners from ever getting started.
Daniel holds certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has worked with hundreds of clients across private studios, commercial gyms, and community recreation centers, guiding people of all ages and backgrounds through their first weeks and months of lifting. His coaching philosophy centers on building confidence through competence. He believes that when people understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, they train harder, stay consistent longer, and enjoy the process more.
When he is not coaching or writing, Daniel spends his time hiking, cooking high-protein meals, and reading research on exercise science and motor learning. He lives with his wife and their two dogs in Portland, Oregon. *Strong from Day One* is his first book, written for the version of himself he was ten years ago and for everyone who has ever stood at the edge of the weight room wondering where to begin.Done.
