The chapters cover universal human experiences—including leadership, assertiveness, honesty, guilt, loneliness, and stress—alongside deeper spiritual concepts like consciousness, the purpose of life, the ego, karma, and the mind. Written in a compassionate, gentle, and encouraging tone, these messages guide readers toward self-awareness, inner transformation, self-belief, and confidence.
Despite the range of subjects, the messages function almost like variations on one idea. Rather than 74 separate messages, nearly everyone, regardless of its stated topic, arrives at some version of the same core teaching: that fear, pain, judgment, and separation, are constructs of the mind, that love is the one constant and unconditioned reality underneath them, and that this love is not obtained from other people or from the world, but experienced by accepting, forgiving, and refusing to judge oneself.
While many of these concepts are timeless truths reframed for today, the final poem, ‘The Purpose of Life’, introduces a unique dimension rarely found in other spiritual teachings. It explores why we hide our true selves, why we repeat mistakes, and how personal limitations—and the fear they create—perpetuate the 'game of life'.
Messages From the Love Within can be read as a regular book from start to finish, or by choosing an individual message and reflecting on what those words mean to you. It is ideal for readers experiencing emotional struggles or transitions, seeking inner peace or spiritual clarity, looking for guidance that feels intimate, loving, and empowering, or simply looking for a feel-good, inspirational read.
The messages were written in 1995 - 1996 via a method called Automatic Writing. To find out more about how the messages came to be and what automatic writing is. Please read 'About the Author' below.

Messages from the Love Within was written using a method referred to as automatic writing. Automatic writing is a natural and easy process where it seems the words just write themselves. There is no need to think you simply write and when it is time to stop, you just seem to know. The process is so different to normal writing that even though it is all my original work, I have handwritten every word and I own the copyright it doesn’t feel like it is my work, nor my creation. Therefore automatic writing means that as an author my personal knowledge, training or qualifications are far less important than they would be in the case of other self-help authors where their experience and knowledge is critical. The main skill I needed was the ability to write, spell and accept the words as they came and not change or try to improve them so they fit my ideas or beliefs.
For those who are interested in a little about me, I was born in Sydney, Australia, number six in a family of ten children. My father was a Medical Practitioner and my mother owned and managed a real estate agency. I was raised a Catholic but as an adult soon realized I was more suited to the individual spiritual and meditation path more than a structured religious one. In the mid-1980s I embraced the new age movement exploring different ideas and concepts, different religions, spiritual teachers and teachings and traveled on a number of occasions to India.
It was following one of these trips in 1995 that I started to write down my thoughts, thinking one day sharing my experiences and insights may help others. After doing that for a few weeks I had an unusual dream. During that dream I felt a surge of energy move through the palms of my hands, I then saw myself collapse on the floor. Next, I remember seeing myself sitting at a desk, writing on a pad and saying out loud, “I understand, I now automatically write”.
A few days later I thought I would see what happened if I sat at a desk with pen and paper as I had seen myself in the dream. Almost immediately I started to write. Words flowed easily, effortlessly and very quickly. They came in a poetry style format covering many different topics and I found if I needed to think of what to write next it was time to stop, as the truth of the message may be distorted by my personal perception of what should be. This process continued for the next few months and again in 1996. The result is this book.
