About this ebook

The true, declassified account of CIA operative Tony Mendez's daring rescue of American hostages from Iran that inspired the critically-acclaimed film directed by and starring Ben Affleck, and co-starring John Goodman, Alan Arkin, and Bryan Cranston.

On November 4, 1979, Iranian militants stormed the American embassy in Tehran and captured dozens of American hostages, sparking a 444-day ordeal and a quake in global politics still reverberating today. But there is a little-known drama connected to the crisis: six Americans escaped. And a top-level CIA officer named Antonio Mendez devised an ingenious yet incredibly risky plan to rescue them before they were detected.

Disguising himself as a Hollywood producer, and supported by a cast of expert forgers, deep cover CIA operatives, foreign agents, and Hollywood special effects artists, Mendez traveled to Tehran under the guise of scouting locations for a fake science fiction film called Argo. While pretending to find the perfect film backdrops, Mendez and a colleague succeeded in contacting the escapees, and smuggling them out of Iran.
Antonio Mendez finally details the extraordinarily complex and dangerous operation he led more than three decades ago. A riveting story of secret identities and international intrigue, Argo is the gripping account of the history-making collusion between Hollywood and high-stakes espionage.

I've been forcing myself to continue and its painful. Absolutely one of the most boring "lets make this dramatic" book i've read in a long time. Author believes he's James Bond when in reality he's a makeup artist. Really had high hopes that have totally bust. This book isnt worth the electronic ink its written on (think about that). The movie better be an improvement or Affleck's gonna hear from me... :-) seriously, this book sucks.

Kenneth Taylor (CANADIAN) protected these Americans for 3 months! The CANADIANS took action to keep these people safe while the American government just let them rot. The CIA even botched the dates on the American's passports - this could have easily gotten these people killed. But even this was discovered (just in time) by the CANADIAN Embassy! But the Americans (in their mad quest to re-write history) seem perfectly happy to stab the real hero, KENNETH TAYLOR in the back and claim that they were the masterminds behind all this. Really disgusting for our Canadian heroes to be treated with such disrespect. Especially since back in 1980's Americans were so thankful for what we had done for them. By the way, if you want to know the REAL story, it is known as "The Canadian Caper."

Most of the stuff in this book is fictional. It didn't happen that way. Take a quick read at wiki and compare. The country that did it all was Canada and we slapped them in face again with this. And you wonder why the rest of the world hate us.
