I'm Thomas—aspiring musician, Pacific Ocean water rat, and an LA guy who got roped into a mating bond to stop a war between Earth and the Volardi Empire. Now I'm trading the ocean for Sudo, a desert world under a burning sun, two moons, foxlike aliens, and a husband who didn't want me any more than I wanted him.

Zephyron is massive, scarred, and still grieving the two mates he lost. To him, I'm a reminder of something he thought he'd never have again: family. He never asked for me. I didn't ask for him. But now? I want more than a political arrangement—I want him to choose me back, not out of duty, and not because a treaty says he has to.

That's if we survive long enough to find out. I'm caught between two planets, shadowed by Parker, a nosy documentarian with too many questions, and followed by two reprogrammed alien simulacrums who might be the only ones I can trust when things go wrong. And they will. Tydalos, a rival Sentinel with an eye on what's Zephyron's, wants me as his own. Then there are the Zerlites: sharp-toothed, hive-minded, and pouring out of the sand like they already own it.

I never asked to be anyone's symbol or savior. I just wanted music and waves. But if I'm going to build something real with Zephyron, I'll have to fight for it—before the desert, and everything hunting in it, takes us both.
