About this ebook

Brooding Duke. Notorious rake. Driven by grief. Forcing his enemy’s daughter into marriage for revenge. About to lose his heart.

Vengeance. Preston Seaton, the Duke of Grandhampton will bring down the man who killed his brother through any means necessary. So when Lord Neville Beckett auctions off his daughter’s hand in marriage to pay his debts, Preston makes a bid Beckett can’t refuse—evidence of murder.

Dreaming of a career as an artist, Penelope welcomes her future as a spinster. So when her father accepts the proposal of a man who despises her, she longs to flee. But she cannot abandon her poor, old father to his destruction. Moving into the powerful duke’s huge mansion, she wonders if she will ever escape this cold, dark prison.

Convinced Penelope played his brother for a fool and got him killed, Preston has no intention of losing his heart. But the sunny artist is soon filling his home with light and joy. Could a forced marriage forged from hatred ever lead to true happiness? And can Preston forgive himself for desiring the only woman his brother ever loved?

Is romance in the cards for Mr. Vengeance & Miss Independence?💘 This is a good foundation 1st novel, entertaining & romantic with some danger & mystery, in a regency romance series centered on a ducal family. Preston inherits a dukedom from his brother Spencer under tragic circumstances & decides to take revenge to assuage his grief & guilt on Baron Beckett & his daughter by marrying her?! I found the story entertaining, made me want to read more about the family. Shocking cliffhanger at end.

unable to finish it. the artist idea had real potential but the revenge and character development and plot pacing and internal monologs and love scenes were all so rough and robotic and the sentence structure so stiff I couldn't justify another page even though I skipped pages trying to hang on.

This the story of Penelope, an low ranking in the ton artist to be looking forward to being a spinster and Preston, a Duke with an evil plan. These two end up married via Preston's scheme to get even but things do not go quite as planned. Even thought it has the simple regency plot, the story itself was fun and steamy and a bit crazy as these two end up in a marriage that will break them or give them a worthy love. Great characters, intense and funny scenes, and a wild crazy time.
